EFCC arrests ex-aid to Bayelsa governor for N10 million bribe

According to The Premium Times, suspect was arrested on Monday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state, for allegedly offering a bribe worth N10 million to the EFCC’s regional head, Ishaq Salihu.efcc

Mr Don-Evarada ran into trouble when he approached Mr Salihu over a case involving the Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa’s state governor on Millennium Development Goals, Apere Embelakpo, and his wife, Fiene Beauty.

Mr Embelakpo is currently being investigated for allegedly diverting N800million originally intended for MDGs, while his wife is being investigated for alleged money laundering, forgery, and suspicious transactions to the tune of N200million.
Governor Seriake Dickson has not been accused of any involvement
Mr Don-Evarada allegedly offered the bribe ostensibly to compromise the EFCC investigation but his overture was turned down and he was subsequently arrested.
He remains in EFCC custody and will be charged in court as soon as the relevant investigation is concluded, EFCC officials said.
